Information Systems Project Management

Course Description

This course aims to provide the project management concepts, tools and techniques which can be applied in projects especially for Information System (IS) Projects. The students will be expected to make the successful management within the IS project life cycle. They can also manage the various processes which are involved in IS projects and resources effectively by knowing the various management skills such as time management, cost management, human resource management, risk management, etc. Moreover, the students will gain the deeper understanding the role and responsibilities of project manager.

The aims of this course are:

  • To define the insights and skills necessary to complete projects effectively, on time and within budget.
  • To outline the organizational project management process with special emphasis on its life cycle and tools.
  • To have a solid understanding of contemporary project management and its benefits for their professional and personal life.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon the successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • define the process of project management and its application in delivering successful IT projects.
  • identify the required resources for a project to produce a work plan and resource schedule.
  • develop an appropriate level of balance for the direction and support of team members.
  • apply best practices of project “lesson learned” to ensure continuous improvement of project work.
