Course Description

Introduction to Business

This course provides a survey of the business world. Topics include the basic principles and practices of contemporary business. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of business concepts as a foundation for studying other business subjects.

 The aims of this course are:

  • to explain the valuation of financial assets.
  • to identify sources of financing for firms; and
  • to evaluate the investment and financing decisions of a firm.

Fundamental of Information Systems

This course provides business processes form communications to order processing to number crunching and business functions ranging from marketing to human resources to accounting and finance. The main focus of this course understand what information system can and cannot do and be use them to help business accomplish in the business work. The purpose for this course is to provide an overview of information systems. It is a survey course looking at a number of topics in information systems. It reviews the interrelationships between the organization and various information systems and a number of information systems terms are defined and explained. The course will introduce the information systems in Information Concepts , Ethical and Societal Issues, Business Information Systems, System Development, Organizations and Information Systems.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Introduction to Business

Upon the successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Identify various forms of business organizations.
  • Define business vocabulary.
  • Apply the basics of business ethics.

Fundamental of Information Systems

Upon the successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Identify the basic types of business information systems and discuss who uses them, how they are used , and what kinds of benefits they deliver
  • Understand the fundamental components of a telecommunications system, electronic, mobile commerce and enterprise systems
  • Analyze about information and decision support systems
  • Explain knowledge management systems and specialized information systems.
  • Describe the system development use different approaches and tools such as traditional development, prototyping, rapid application development, end-user development, computer – aided software engineering and object-oriented development to select, implement and monitor projects.
